Irene was born in January of 1930 and lived until May of 2020. Her father, Mose Triplett, a Civil War veteran who was 83 years old at the time of Irene's birth in 1930, had fought for both sides during the war. His advanced age at the time of Irene's birth meant she would be the last surviving child of a Civil War veteran at the time of her death.
