Do bananas cause radiation poisoning?
I hate to be the deliverer of bad news, but those bananas you are consuming are infecting you with radioactivity. No, really. It’s a scientific fact and it is That Interesting. You see, bananas contain potassium (of course) and potassium is naturally radioactive. Why? Because potassium contains a teensy bit of the radioactive isotope, Potassium-40 (\({}{40}\)K). Don’t worry, though. The math states that you would need to eat roughly 10 million bananas at once to die of radiation poisoning.
