German philosopher, Freiderich Nietzsche, and his mental breakdown

The world-renowned 19th century German philosopher, Friederich Nietzsche, passed away on 25 August 1900 at the age of 55. However, when he passed, he had been living outside of the limelight for 11 years after a complete mental breakdown occurred in Turin, Italy, in 1889 (look this up, it is that interesting). He moved from institution to institution before being cared for by his mother and sister. The cause of the breakdown has never been fully determined.
