Mount Everest tallest mountain, but not really. The tallest one is actually Mauna Kea of Hawaii. Did you know?
Wanna hear something that interesting? Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on earth…but only above sea level. Yes, that’s right - it is technically not the tallest mountain, at least if you include mountains measured from their oceanic base. The tallest mountain is actually Mauna Kea of Hawaii, which stands at 10,200m tall from below water to its peak above. Everest, in comparison, stands at 8,848m and is entirely above water, so there’s no extra metres hidden away!
It is also a dormant volcano which hasn't erupted in over 4,500 years... though it will erupt again. It also only has 4,205 metres above sea level, so you can technically climb the world's tallest mountain with much less difficulty and risk to life!
