Yet, the surprising favourite among the casting team was James Gandolfini, who is best known for having played Tony Soprano in that interesting crime series, The Sopranos. HBO, the network The Sopranos aired on, actually paid Gandolfini $3 million to turn down the role to preserve the legacy of drama.
