The Lord of the Rings is one of the most iconic movie trilogies ever filmed... and it was all filmed together. A wild example of this lies with Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf.

He had never read the books and therefore was unfamiliar with the story... yet, the first scene he filmed was Gandalf’s opening scene in the first movie (The Fellowship of the Ring, 2001) whilst the very second scene he filmed was the final scene of the final movie (The Return of the King, 2003).

He had a lot of reading to do.
