Wettest place on earth is ‘Mawsynram,’ an Indian state of Meghalaya. Did you know?

You would be forgiven for thinking that the wettest place on earth is the United Kingdom. Wet and dreary, it would have been my guess. However, the title actually goes to Mawsynram in the Indian state of Meghalaya.

Yearly, it is estimated that around 11,871 mm (467.4 inches) of rainfall hits the village per year and, in 2022, 1,003.2 millimetres of rain hit in just 24 hours - a world record!
